6 Ways Movies Fool You Into Ignoring Bad Reviews

6 Ways Movies Fool You Into Ignoring Bad Reviews

"Studios Use (Misquoted) Reviews From Total Randos On The Internet"

Yes, there are even films which quote me on the DVD box. To be fair, they asked me if the quotes they intended to use were a fair representation of my position, and I said yes. The trick, of course, is that I try to find the best and worst elements of movies, so I might write something like "an elegantly presented drama that unfortunately gets bogged down in cliches," and they will quote "elegantly presented." They don't actually misquote me, so when they ask me if it's OK to cite that phrase, I say "sure, just get the URL right" and move on, because anyone who gives a crap what I said before buying a DVD should be smart enough to check the context, and that might get me a few more readers.
