Trump Wanted Tenfold Increase in Nuclear Arsenal, Surprising Military

Trump Wanted Tenfold Increase in Nuclear Arsenal, Surprising Military

It was immediately after this pronouncement that Tillerson called him a fucking moron.

Needless to say, Trump went on a Tweetstorm after the story broke. Trump denied asking for a tenfold increase, which is actually correct, in the sense that he actually asked for an eight-fold increase. The story actually said "a nearly tenfold increase,"

"Officials present said that Trump’s comments on a significantly increased arsenal came in response to a briefing slide that outlined America’s nuclear stockpile over the past 70 years. The president referenced the highest number on the chart — about 32,000 in the late 1960s — and told his team he wanted the U.S. to have that many now, officials said. The U.S. currently has around 4,000 nuclear warheads in its military stockpile, according to the Federation of American Scientists."

  1. I used to have an adviser with Trump's personality in my university days. The guy would say "Do this, do that!", then next day, say "No, you're so stupid, do that, do this!". It stressed me out big time until I realized that from day-to-day he actually never remembered what he said. All I had to do was say "Sure boss, I'll take note of that.", and then go on doing whatever I was doing.

The people around Trump have to take that attitude, "Sure Mr. President, we'll make that a priority.", then do nothing... until he tweets about it! Then you have confirmation he remembered it!

  2. Been there, man.

It's one thing having an easily-distracted peckerhead running a research group or a department. It's qualitatively worse when he's running a country and leaking away startling sums of cash on phallic symbols.
