World leaders call Trump's Jerusalem decision "reckless" and "irresponsible"

Reckless and irresponsible? That's not the Donald Trump I know!

  1. This is kicking a hornet's nest for no fucking reason at all. America gets nothing out of this apart from pissing off the world.

If we had someone who knew the first thing about foreign policy or deal making, maybe he would have said We'll do this, but we can't spare you another $10 billion this year. Or next year.

    1. Of course, the same thing has been the supposed party platform of both parties in the US for some time but no president made it official till now. Which makes this all the more baffling. Obama himself endorsed that stance, but just because he only paid it lip service, he's okay? Huh?!? (and bear in mind I think trump is a monster who needs to go away asap)

  2. I'm puzzled by all of this. If this was anyone other than Isreal, would there be any controversy over where they decide their capital is? I mean, what exactly does that change? Where their mail comes?

I understand it means something with the Palestinian conflict, but that's always confused me as well. There's no such thing as a Palestinian state or people, never has been, it's a made up concept to describe people who moved into the area that's been Isreal for thousands of years during the relatively brief period when it wasn't Isreal.

Why does the entire world care about that purely regional, cultural conflict so much that when the sovereign nation of Isreal decides to change their capital, it's a world crisis?

    1. Oh, Shiva H. Vishnu. You seem to have mistaken a religious text for a legal deed.

Jerusalem is holy to Christians, Muslims, and Jews and to each of their several denominations (including the weird ones). You can't so much as put up a No Turn On Red sign there without pissing off someone.

What Trump has done is like walking into a biker bar and yelling "Harleys Suck!". He'll be fine, don't worry. But those of us without Secret Service details just got a lot closer to getting blowed up. And in return, America gets...not Jack.

    2. Yes, Trump has given muslim terrorists a great opportunity to show us the animals that they are. You obviously forgot they were blowing us up and murdering our ambassadors before this incident.

    3. No, that was my point - that less blowing up would be preferable.

But if it's unrelated tangents you're after, don't forget the much greater dangers from Tim McVeigh-style Christians and Adam Lanza-type nutjobs.

  3. Trump's minions are doing all they can to distract from the Mueller probe. This announcement is part of that. I'm not happy about the Franken resignation, but it's smart strategically. Settled scandals go away in single news cycles.
