Report: Nunes Wants to Publish As Many As 5 More Phony-Baloney Memos

Report: Nunes Wants to Publish As Many As 5 More Phony-Baloney Memos

Why publish them? When the first memo was unpublished, it seemed to cast doubt on the Justice Department and FBI, but as soon as it was released it was apparent that its points were all misleading, inaccurate and/or irrelevant. Or worse. In one respect it was detrimental to Trump. Re: the surveillance of Carter Page. Rather than showing that law enforcement was spying on the Trump campaign, the timeline showed that Trump carelessly bungled into failing to vet a guy who was so shady that the FBI had been spying on him for years!

(Moreover, there is the big picture. Even if everyone in government wanted to discredit Trump, why would they bother? Nobody thought he had even the slightest chance to win. Nate Silver got royally shit upon by the establishment for saying that Trump had better than a 1-in-4 chance! All the supposed pundits thought a Trump victory was totally impossible.)

As long as Nunes' additional top secret memos stay unpublished, and therefore away from the scrutiny of analytical minds, he can politicize them with enough hyperbole to sell his narrative. He can say they show that every person in every branch of government is corrupt except him and Trump. But as soon as the memos see the light of day, all the politics and hyperbole get stripped away by the powers of logic and fact.

When's the last time that ever happened?
