Box Office: Kevin Spacey’s ‘Billionaire Boys Club’ Earns $126 on Opening Day

It was in 10 theaters, so it earned $12.60 per theater.  That’s 1.3 tickets. I assume at least two screening times per theater, so many of the screenings must have been literally empty.

    1. Depends on how you define its class. There was a 2006 Katherine Heigl film called Zyzzyx Road that only grossed thirty bucks in its opening WEEK. It played at noon for seven consecutive days in one theater in Dallas. Only six people paid to see it, and two of them were a crew member and friend. When the producer found out those two paid to see the film, he gave them their ten bucks back out of his own pocket.

There was a 2007 film called Intervention which only grossed $300 in its opening weekend. It starred many familiar actors. (See the link for details)

I don’t know what the budgets were for those two films, but Billionaire Boys Club had a budget of fifteen million. It may (or may not) be the lowest in that class.
