National Enquirer boss and Trump pal David Pecker gets federal immunity in Michael Cohen case

He was part of the scheme to bury the details of Trump’s extra-marital escapades. He bought damaging stories as exclusives, then kept them out of print, thus effectively silencing the accusers. I gather that he was reimbursed by Cohen directly, which means that he was ultimately reimbursed by Trump. Maybe.

It’s not clear whether Pecker’s testimony and promise of immunity is restricted to this specific facet of Trump’s life, or if he is fully co-operating with the feds and/or New York State on other Trump-related matters. (He is a long-time Trump friend.)

  1. I just learned that David Pecker is on the board of the PostMedia-Sun chain here in Canada. I always thought PostMedia was terrible, but this is below even what I thought they were capable of.

  2. I have despised the National Enquirer for even longer than I have really despised Donald Trump. What is really awful, though, is the number of Americans who support these terrible things.

  3. Take a dozen style points out of petty cash, Scoop, for resisting the easy dick joke here.

Also, you kind of have to pity the prick – people have been calling him Pecker his whole life. “Pecker, party of four, your table is ready”, “What do you want for Christmas, Pecker?”, “I love you, Pecker, but I’m not *in* love with you”.

    1. I saw about a gazillion social media posts making pecker jokes, so I kinda figured every stone had been turned.
