Today Would Have Been Michael Jackson’s 60th Birthday

“Michael Jackson would have been 60 years old today – leading Megyn Kelly to question what he’s remembered for – his music or the accusations against him?”

Why can’t we remember him as a genius AND a pervert, much like Mozart, Hans Christian Andersen, and of course the greatest and most stable genius of all, Donald J. Trump?

As I suspected, the following comment engendered a lively discussion, which is why I brought it up front. I’m usually the one carrying the ball of controversy, but I have no convictions about this topic, so I cravenly let another running back run into the offensive line. If this is a passion of yours, see the rest of the debate and join in if you care to (through the comments link).

Reader comment:

“MJ was an excellent singer & dancer, but musically speaking, ‘genius’ is a ludicrous label. Quincy Jones & others did most of the work Jackson is famous for. Stevie Wonder made more lasting, quality, soulful music on 1 double album – Songs in the Key of Life – than MJ did on all his albums combined. He did some entertaining videos, but there again, he’d typically have a superficial idea (such as zombies in a graveyard – how original) and others would flesh it out for him. I’ve always thought of him as a guy who clearly went Grade-A nuts after he reached the heights of fame and fortune. His behavior went off the charts, his fortune went down the drain on such essential things as the Elephant Man’s bones, endless plastic surgery & pigmentation removal, and worse, his more diabolical tendencies came to the surface, such as molesting children. He became a sick freak, and a lying criminal as well, in the years before he died. When he met his final day, I thought, “Thank God, this bullshit is over with: all the gossip about him, his phony plans for touring, criminal accusations, financial troubles, etc. In the years to come, he’ll be viewed more accurately as a super-creepy sicko molester than the ‘King of Pop.’” It hasn’t happened yet; he’s still being worshipped by misguided cretins. When will this twisted freak’s specter ever vanish?”

  1. Easy to sum this up: I guess if you’re the type of person who really loves random, effeminate squeaks & other odd noises in a vocal, as well as sudden crotch-grabbing, and ‘cool dance moves’ and hair styles and costumes are a part of your enjoyment of a vocal, then you would make inane statements like “MJ was The Greatest Singer of His Generation.” But to me, a typical person who would say that does not possess much (if any) true soulfulness or understanding of it, instead making their judgment on relatively superficial gimmicks like the above and videos, as well as mass popularity. None of those things I listed actually has ANYTHING to do with truly being “The Greatest Singer.” Telling someone like that to listen to & absorb Stevie Wonder’s talent would have no effect, since the brainwashing took effect on the victim years or decades ago. i.e., “Billie Jean and Beat It are great songs that I love, thus, he is THE GREATEST.” Let’s forget all about the shitty music he made in the years after he had 3 big albums, right? The guy had a massive orgasm when he became an adult entertainer, and most everyone jumped into his cum-pile and rolled in it, making him a very rich man… then he essentially rolled over in bed & went to sleep for eternity. Even Quincy Jones said “Fuck this” after seeing that MJ was a greedy looney-tune who had used up whatever talent he had for making music in his initial orgasm. As far as ‘Best Entertainer’ and all that, let’s be real: this man was a devious predator operating on an even wider scale than, say, Jerry Sandusky or Jimmy Savile. Savile was never ‘convicted’ either; do we look back on him and say, “What a talented host!!” Nope, he was a monster and is now recognized as such, after his death. I believe that an intelligent, reasonable, informed person can easily see through the MJ bullshit and recognize him for what he was – a psycho & child molester. What you are basically saying by your comments is, “That’s *okay*. I like his music and I am a mindless follower of who or what the rest of the world tells me to idolize, so I ignore his, er, um, flaws.” Hard-core reality: The man is now a rotting corpse underground, looking perhaps a lot like he did in his Thriller video as a zombie; isn’t it time to stop being a mindless, staggering, following zombie yourself, and start to view him as not a King or a genius, but as a pathetic, disturbed individual who was deeply attracted to the penises (or penii) of little boys? Mystery to me how morons can blow that off and still keep the Crown on MJ’s rotting head. You’d think at some point, after 10 years, the glitz & glamour & facade & misguided respect would have faded away, and the reality of who he really was would become much more apparent to even idiots. But as Scoopy once wrote on here (not verbatim), ‘the internet is full of dumb kids and ignorant people.’ Who simply don’t have the ability to reason and use simple logic. Easier to be superficial, I suppose. If you have believed the MJ bullshit for this long and can still sleep at night, why change your opinion because some guy wrote some negative shit, right? “Beat It” is great, right? He grabbed his crotch and squeaked like a girl and danced the Moonwalk – that’s so cool, right? He’s the Greatest Singer of His Generation, man! Who cares if he got little kids drunk & beat their dicks hard? What’s that got to do with anything, right? No-hopers. As Gomer Pyle would say, “Sergeant Carter, that’s just sad, sad, sad.”

    1. Had he lived he would be in jail where he belonged. A sick pervert. How can anyone defend him?

  2. 1) Fans who *worship* him as though he’s a God-like figure; big difference in cretinage. 2) Saying Stevie Wonder was a washed-up has-been by the early 80’s is not only false, it’s nonsensical. You’d have a brutal time finding agreement to that statement from most people on the planet. 3) Best singer of his generation: subjective. In my opinion, laughable, unless you really like fake-soulful theatrics in your vocals. Best entertainer? Maybe so. 4) Never convicted? Neither was O.J. When you’re shelling out 20 million in secret to a kid who says you molested him, that’s all I need to know. No innocent person would do that. I think some suspicions would be raised, at the very least, by a man who spent tens of millions to make his property a giant playground to lure children in, and then gave them wine and slept with them. Common sense. 5) Bottom line toward his sanity, it’s come out after his death that MJ, in his final years, was randomly urinating anywhere he felt like it in his home: in corners, in the middle of the floor, etc. He simply expected his servants or clean it up, or didn’t care. And he gave his last interview from a treetop, giggling like a schoolgirl. And he ended up, almost literally, with no nose on his face or blackness in his skin, by his own choice. If someone can look at all that, and still rush to idolize this man and call him the King of Pop or ‘best entertainer’ and so on, I would think they might’ve been misled by all the hype & press over the years. But to me, “sick freak” and “child molester” outweigh those positive labels, not only with MJ, but anyone. OJ was a great football player, for example; it matters not ever since the day he chose to murder two people. Crazy & criminal behavior always hold more weight to me than anything good the person in question ever did, entertainment-wise.

  3. Dev J. With all due respect (and I’m by no means a fan), he was a the best singer, and entertainer of his generation (SITKOL came out nearly a full decade before Thriller and by then Stevie was a washed up has been). Do not underestimate the input he had into everything he touched; we know that Quincy Jones attests to this repeatedly. Also, don’t sell short the skill of surrounding yourself with talented eneablers. That said, nothing will take away the creepy if not criminal acts, but let’s recall that he was never convicted. Finally, to call his fans cretins is pretty ridiculous. The suggestion that we can be smart enough to compartmentalize is salient.
