OK, I got the message. Everybody loves Rollergirl. She got three times as many votes as the next best contender. In order get a better feel for the rest of the field, let’s drop Heather out of the running and vote for the SECOND-best scene of the year, keeping only the serious contenders in the race.
Why do we have to vote for one…ALL of these are epic.
1997 was an amazing year, and it’s also astounding to see how many of these women either were stars or later became stars. Even some of the women who didn’t make the top 20, like J-Lo and Penelope Cruz, are major film/entertainment heavyweights.
I went with Arquette this time, though I don’t believe she showed bush in Lost Highway, as a previous poster mentioned.
She didn’t. She wore a merkin in the movie Human Nature though.
We’re spoiled for choice. If only political elections offered such a no-lose situation.

Jessica Hecht in Anarchy TV is my favorite nude scene of 1997.

I’m sort of astounded at the lack of interest in Jamie Presley. That movie is EPIC nudity and her body is incredible.
Well, she is running third as I type this, beating out some great scenes like full frontal nudity from Charlize Theron. The astounding thing about this voting is the undeniable power of Jennifer Connelly. That scene in Inventing the Abbots is brief and not very revealing. Viewed objectively, it’s not a good scene at all. If any other actress had done it, it probably would have gotten a tiny trickle of votes, perhaps none at all. But she’s Jennifer Friggin’ Connelly. In the early days of my site, circa 1996, she was BY FAR the most popular download. It was her against the field
Suggests that Connelly would have won back in 1997.
I won’t say that for sure, but it is certainly a strong possibility. She really was that popular. But remember this was her fourth nude scene, and it not an especially good one. There’s no doubt in my mind she would have won for her first significant nudity in The Hot Spot, and possibly also for her sex scenes in Mulholland Falls. We’ll see how that prediction pans out if we get that far back. I’m planning to continue the series because it’s fun, but it’s also time-consuming.
On its own, Jenna in Private Parts is an excellent nude scene. Especially when you consider that 1997 was her ‘52 Mantle for appearance, but she’s Jenna Jameson and we’ve seen a virtual body scan over the last 20 years.
I went with Patricia Arquette. Debut nude screen with a former teen actress, very naked in decent light,all three b’s. Hits all the notes. Yes yes, Heather, I know.
Surprised no Milla Jovovich in The Fifth Element; a well-lit topless scene in a PG-13 movie, not many of those.

As always, I tried to include not every scene, but only those scenes that people might actually vote for as their one choice for scene of the year. I had Milla on my list and then at the last minute I thought that nobody would possibly vote for that over the other great choices
But what the hell, if you think it might get votes, I’ll drop it in there.

You’ll get another chance. This voting is so lopsided, and the numbers after #1 are so tiny, that I can’t make a sensible Top Twenty list. I’d have to reduce it to a Top One.
Because of that, I’m going to run a second ballot asking people to vote for the second-best scene of 1997. I’ll kick Heather out and delete all the scenes that got no votes (unless they were full-frontal scenes, in which case I’ll leave them among the choices), and then we’ll go again.
If everyone’s seeing the same ballot layout (with Heather Graham in the Top Left), then the current results are a pretty good argument in favor of ballot rotation.

(FYI, my theory is that ballot rotation only matters when there is very little real distinction between the voting options, so subconscious priming can win the support of the apathetic.)
I went against the grain with Jen Lopez, simply because it was my personal fav nude scene of that year. I didn’t find her previous nude scene with Snipes in Money Train that exciting. U-Turn was her first one with a clear, freeze-frameable view of her nips, during a decent sex scene, and even back then she was a big star, so it was excitingly revealing. Most will probably go with Roller Girl and it’s hard to argue with that since she showed bush.
I was torn between Rollergirl and Helena. I’m not sure who I would have voted for at the time, but I’m guessing Heather.
