Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospitalized After Falling, Fracturing 3 Ribs

She’s barely alive even on her best days, so this could set off a bad chain of events. It’s not like she was playing rugby, or fell down a flight of stairs. She fell in her office. That makes her seem very fragile.

  1. The one area where I agree with Trump completely is on judicial nominations. I would love it if Trump got at least one more Supreme Court nomination, preferably two. A 5 – 4 majority is pretty tenuous as a heart attack during the wrong presidential administration can change everything. Or maybe not if Mitch McConnell is Senate majority leader. But I refuse to wish harm on any of the Democratic appointees. I hope the notorious RBG makes a full recovery. Though I will not be upset if she retires ahead of schedule.

The last few years, RBG has displayed something of an “I don’t give a eff” attitude. That’s how she responded to everyone trying to get her to retire during the Obama administration. Unfortunately, that’s also how she has treated the canons of judicial ethics when it comes to commenting on political issues such as the candidacy of Donald Trump. But technically, the only authority that can decide whether a Supreme Court Justice has followed those canons is the Justice themself. So basically she can say whatever the eff she wants to say. Feel better Justice Ginsburg.

  2. It might lead to the situation where she’s in a coma with all organs failing but the Democrats will be doing everything possible to keep her alive, transplanting baboon’s hearts into her once a week and so on, and keeping her connected to a hundred different machines, while Trump leads thousands of his supporters in chants of “Pull the plug! Pull the plug!”

  3. I don’t think she was thinking straight as far back as 2009. If she had resigned right after Obama’s inauguration, given that Obama waltzed in with a 59-41 edge in the Senate during his honeymoon period, BHO could have gotten any choice through with no difficulty. He could have nominated Pauly Shore, and the Senate would have confirmed it.

  4. Find me someone her age who isn’t fragile and suffers no cognitive issues at all.

But because of how the scotus works we have someone likely unsafe to drive a car deciding the future of the nation just so the opposing team does get a score on the board.
