This 195-gigapixel photo of the Shanghai skyline is so huge that you can zoom in and see people’s faces

  1. The really surprising thing about this photo is how few people are in the photo. I envisioned a city like this being wall-to-wall people. But when I zoomed in on restaurant patios or other areas I expected to be crowded, there was no one to be seen. I scrolled along one long expanse of dock, past a cruise ship, tug boat and multiple personal vessels, and never saw a single human. Is this like Dubai, where they built a giant city and now they’re trying to get people to come live in it?

This reminds me of those HGTV shows where some House Hunter is shown the swimming pool and common areas of a big beachside condo development, and it is completely devoid of people.
