If he was the “brains” behind Yanukovych shooting down his own people, he was not only an evil bastard (which we already know from the Bada Bing tapes) but a monumentally stupid one, seeing it got his client sent fleeing into exile. And from a US perspective, it’s mind boggling that an American would be facilitating anything leading to the Russians regaining control over Ukraine. He may be even less patriotic than Trump – which is a pretty hard thing to pull off.
