Paulie Numbnuts says he’s learned his lesson and he’ll never be bad again

In that case, sir, you are free to go.

So he’s using the time-tested “Spanky and Alfalfa” defense. Presumably, he will not be allowed to run away and join the circus.

This is a real line from the article:

“Lawyers for Paul Manafort, President Trump’s former campaign chairman, asked a federal judge in Northern Virginia on Friday to show leniency when he sentences Mr. Manafort next week, casting him as a loyal, compassionate, idealistic man who has learned a ‘harsh lesson.'”

Yeah, that sounds like him.

A quick reminder: In addition to the crimes he committed before his arrest, he continued to commit crimes while out on bail, then continued to commit serious crimes under house arrest, then continued to commit more crimes while actually in jail (by lying to the prosecutors after agreeing to a plea deal). Just a compassionate, idealistic man!

Of course, what else could the lawyers say? Lawyers are paid to offer the best possible defense of their client. They’d probably like to say, “Yeah, we admit it, he’s a total sleazeball with no remorse. And a con artist – don’t forget the fake wheelchair.” But that’s not how the system works.

  1. Not trying to defend this guy because he does seem to be a truly bad fella, but why does the MSM continue to refer to him as “Trump’s campaign manager”? As I recall the news that has since probably been forgotten, he was the campaign manager for something under 4 MONTHS before he was fired, probably because of his history. It’s not like he was and is the campaign manager. (It’s the MSM, that’s probably the answer right there)

    1. They refer to him as Trump’s FORMER campaign manager. And almost 4 months is more than a season, more than summer vacation. It’s a heck of a lot more time than Flynn was in his job. What do YOU want him to be called?

      1. How about the phrase… “who served as Donald Trumps campaign manager for a little under 4 months…”

A little truth in reporting would be nice from the MSM. The way they say it, “former campaign manager”, he could have been in that position for a year or more.

  2. Give him to the Ukrainians so he can be put in Yulya Tymoshenko’s old cell.
