GAME of THRONES SPOILER (obviously) …

Maisie Williams got nekkid in episode two of this season’s Game of Thrones, or at least her character did, as she chose to lose her virginity to Gendry during the vigil held by the living on the eve of the great battle against the dead. Given the show’s history, there could be cgi or doubling chicanery involved here, but Maisie seems to have admitted it’s the real deal. (I think. Her comments are not completely transparent.)

  1. I’m thinking it was all Maisie here. She is looking more “full” in the face than she has before, so I think she had a little more fluffy going on when she filmed this (not a criticism AT ALL! just an observation) For the sideboob I think they had her breasts taped up so they would look perkier from the side. Some of her red carpet appearances with loose tops she hangs wider than she appeared in this side shot. Plus taping is a super common wardrobe thing in film.

  2. I thought it was a body double to digital at first, too. However, she did an interview with EW that… well, clarified nothing really:

    “There was a sensitive pragmatic question which needed to be answered, however. To put it bluntly: Was Arya going to be naked on camera? Many cast members have appeared nude on the show, though typically signed on when they were at least 18 years old (and often agreed to nudity as part of their deal). The 22-year-old Williams joined Thrones when she was 11 and has grown up in front of fans. Williams says the showrunners let her decide precisely how much to show. “David and Dan were like: ‘You can show as much or as little as you want,’” Williams says. “So I kept myself pretty private. I don’t think it’s important for Arya to flash. This beat isn’t really about that. And everybody else has already done it on the show, so… “

    Still, when it came time to film the encounter, Williams had to be naked-ish on set, and that was a naturally a bit awkward. “In the beginning, everyone was really respectful,” she says. “No one wants to make you feel uncomfortable which kind of makes you feel more uncomfortable, because no one wants to look at anything that they shouldn’t look at which in turn makes you feel like you look awful because everyone is kind of like—“ [Williams averts her eyes]. “You want people to act more normal.””

    My guess is her butt crack, but they digital cleaned up or inserted the sideboob. The way she says it, though, it could be 100% a body double. Who knows.

    1. I’m getting uncanny valley vibes: too smooth, like CGI, just looks weird. My interpretation of what she said was for sure CGI was involved: body suit with seams removed using CGI, body double overlay using CGI, or straight CGI.

  4. Could they have selected a body double that is to husky? Massie’s build is not So chubby

  6. Seems unnatural when it switches to a full frame shot. I would bet this is cgi body doubling like Lena Headeys walk of shame.
