  1. Gerald Ford was a very decent man, but as you point out today, that is never enough.

    Now that I think about Ford, I realize how I have changed over time. I agreed with with Ford’s decision to pardon Nixon back then. Now, I would never agree with a decision to pardon Trump. I think Trump’s crimes are much worse, and the Republican Party has become thoroughly rotten since then. But maybe a sizable portion of the change is in me. Maybe I hate the right wing of American politics in a way I did not back then.

    I would argue that it is the right that has changed, but it is hard to say about oneself.
