Noah Syndergaard did something that hasn’t happened in the major leagues since 1983

He pitched a complete game 1-0 shutout and hit a homer to drive in the only run

  1. Baseball is currently a snooze fest until it gets to the league playoffs. Not clear how that will be changed. It’s very dull on TV…

  2. What a cool achievement and what a travesty this is likely the last time it will ever be done. Adding the DH to the NL is a terrible idea. They need to get rid of it in the AL instead. They are taking away a key part of what makes baseball great.

  3. There is a very good chance he will be the last pitcher to ever do this, if as has been widely speculated, the National League adopts the DH in the next couple of years. I am a little torn on the issue, because I don’t like the DH rule and like making pitcher’s bat. On the other hand, since the Mets traded for Robinson Cano who is currently 36 with an expensive contract running through 2023, the DH would come in might handy for my favorite team. What do you do when self interest conflicts with ideology? Since I don’t actually get a vote, I will be happy either way, unless I am feeling pessimistic that day.
