Trump announces tariffs on Mexico until ‘immigration remedied’

Trump vowed to impose a 5% tariff on all Mexican goods on June 10, “until such time as illegal migrants coming through Mexico, and into our Country, STOP.” He also threatened to increase the tariff to 10% on July 1, and an additional 5% each month for the next three months “if the crisis persists.”

  1. Hey thanks! I’m all for stirring shit up just for the yucks.
Glad you don’t actually believe all that horseshit.

    1. What I believe and don’t believe is something that nobody on this board will ever know. I do not discuss, for real, politics, religion and philosophy with people I don’t know.

I am, however, a writer by trade so when I post something, it is usually something I have crafted just for the hell of it or maybe to get a rise out of someone (Like AdamT).

      It usually works.

      1. Because gee, we need more shit stirred up in general. It really doesn’t take much effort or energy to troll someone these days honestly, it happens on a regular basis on social media and in the news.

As for the actual tariffs, I really don’t care what he does anymore, to be honest. Let him tariff every country in the world to make it seem like he’s ‘getting back’ at them, for some random policy he hasn’t even researched the consequences of. Then when we drop another few billion in taxpayer ‘relief’ we can get closer to that recession that will get him out of there.

At best, he’s not a deep thinker, he can’t focus, and only thinks in binary ‘for me, or against me’ terms. I just hope the timing of the inevitable economic fall coincides with the 2020 elections, because God knows if it doesn’t, the idiotic social media culture today will forget about it, and be on to some other short term focus by election day.

      2. This is a standard tactic of the anti SJW or the Alt Right. Get triggered or have an emotional reaction to something and then accuse the other side of either getting triggered or having an emotional reaction. You did not get a rise out of me in the slightest, but I certainly got a rise out of you.

        1. No, you didn’t. I was using you as an example. And if I didn’t get a rise out of you, why did you bother to respond?

        1. To Nature Mom – 😎

To Adam – Once again, the typical Democrat/Liberal response raises it’s ugly head. When faced with an unwinnable argument, throw out personal insults. Well done, sir!

  2. And here I am, sitting back, enjoying the feeding frenzy. The board was getting a tad boring, so I thought I’d spice it up a bit. You’re welcome!

    1. Again… your opinion, nothing more.

I get the biggest kick out of people like you. Up until he ran for President, Donald Trump was a great guy – giving money to all the right groups, helping people, running a multi-billion dollar corporation, all the right stuff, if you will.

But man! The day he announced he was running for President, he became the most scurrilous, racist, misogynistic cad in the universe.

A little two faced, are we?

No, most things are NOT self-confirming.

      1. What? No! He was a fucking asshole for YEARS before he ran for president. He is an ignorant, childish jagoff. That’s his brand, since long before he ran for prez. Only his inherited wealth has insulated him from the consequences of his incompetence.

        1. William Stanley is clearly not in touch with reality, so there’s very little point in arguing with him.

      2. I’m not sure where you got that opinion from, but Trump has always been an asshole, probably the biggest ass in the entire country. As Anthony Jeselnick pointed out long ago, he is the very definition of a douchebag.

And even before Jeselnick said that, I wrote in 2009: “The general concept of a douchebag is a smug and obnoxious jerk with an inflated sense of self-importance. If you look it up in the dictionary, they probably have Trump’s picture there. The man is a douchebag’s douchebag. He’s the guy other douchebags aspire to be.”

And that is America’s biggest tragedy – that we elected a person who was well known to be a complete tool because … ?

        Well …

As I’ve pointed out many times, Trump started out as a one-issue candidate: that Obama was not born in the USA. There was never any evidence to support that, or any reason of any kind to believe it. It was pure racism, and nothing else, and yet he developed a following on the basis of racism alone. He is the living embodiment of the racist fears of uneducated white America.

  3. If you have spent several days with President Trump IN PERSON and have interviewed him extensively and you have a degree in psychiatry, then you can say you have ‘analyzed’ him and come up with a diagnosis.

If you haven’t, which I think is the most likely scenario, then you have expressed an opinion, nothing more. And you know what opinions are like….

    1. Did you feel this same way when your cult leader Trump referred to Jeb Bush as ‘low energy’ or Ted Cruz as ‘Lyin’ Ted’?

“Trump hasn’t spent several days IN PERSON with these people, and he hasn’t analyzed them and he doesn’t have a degree in psychiatry, therefore he shouldn’t be saying these things.”

I think the most likely scenario is you mindlessly cheered along with your cult leader.

  4. That’s quite a detailed analysis when a simple “Christ what an asshole” would cover it.

  5. I don’t know if this is necessarily new, but I think I’ve fully analysed Donald Trump, and why he behaves so erratically. It’s not because he’s deranged or insane as some here and elsewhere have suggested. I think there have been enough leaked phone calls of him that show that he’s aware of a conversation and has goals that he pursues in these phone calls.

    Trump is two things:
    1.Appallingly ignorant
2.a child (no insult to children)

So, in this case, Trump wants the benefits of this renegotiated NAFTA deal, the access for American companies, the higher wages in Mexico, the ability to claim a victory.

At the same time, Trump wants, what he thinks anyway, are the benefits of these tariffs: the ‘payments from Mexico’ and the pressure placed on Mexico.

The issue here is that, like a child, Trump wants both and he’s never been told that he can’t have everything he wants and that he has to make a choice.

    1. Stop stating your opinions as if they are facts. It’s incredibly annoying.

  6. So the idea is to make our country destitute from lack of trade, then illegals won’t want to come. Got it.
