I remember the first time I ever heard the word “flounce” was when it was used to describe Adrienne Barbeau in “Maude”. Now that word conjures up specific activity in my mind.
To my mind there have been three Great Flouncers in TV history:
(1) Barbeau
(2) Suzanne Somers in “Three’s Company”
(3) Marilu Henner in “Taxi”
May have eventually been rated r, but it was pg when I saw it in theaters and pg for years on cable.
Believe me, I know…I was 12 when I saw it in theaters, and then they’d show it on hbo during the day!
I have seen it on cable, but always in the nudity-free version, absent this scene.
The only time I’ve seen it with that scene intact is once was when the movie was offered in one of the free movie sections of my cable provider’s OnDemand movies. It was also in the 4:3 ratio. They also showed PG movie Squirm also in 4:3 that had more nudity than the normal versions found though I’m not sure if that was just due to the screen cropping or actually an extra scene.
This was A LONG time ago. (I’m 49 now!) back when everything was 4:3.
