Indiana company sparks outrage with unscented ‘Ohio’ candle

Ohio: “Not much to see. Not much to do.”

Oh, this is all in fun. There’s no need for outrage.

But …

Having spent a lot of time in both Ohio and Indiana, I’d have to say they might have things reversed. Your best chance to have fun in Indiana is to sneak across the border to Cincinnati or Louisville. Indiana has a lakefront on the Great Lakes, and they even fucked that up. Gary may be the ugliest place in the United States, and even gives come competition to the hell-holes of the third world.

  1. The biggest downside, though, is having to root for the Reds & Bengals. Oy vey; two of the most consistently underachieving teams in the history of sports. We still worship the Big Red Machine from the mid-70’s, LOL… nothing has been good since then, other than 1990 with Lou Piniella, Barry Larkin, Eric Davis, Paul O’Neill, and the Nasty Boys. Since then we’ve been stuck with a 30-year string of near-last place finishes, and as for the Bungles and Marvin Lewis, the less said, the better.

  2. Lived in OH my entire life and appreciate how down to earth & real people are. The extremes, like the phoniness & superficiality of a state like Cali, and the gruffness & high living costs of a state like NY, just don’t exist around here. Granted, there’s very little sophistication or deep thought here – Ohio consists mainly of Bud drinkers & pot smokers who’ve never heard of gourmet coffee, jazz, Hitchcock or Stanley Kubrick – but they’re easy to get along with and have just enough soulfulness to keep me around. Dayton isn’t the most fun city to be sure, but ventures to Cincy, Cleveland, or Columbus result in plenty of fun things to do & see. You seldom hear people complaining about the Buckeye State and that’s for good reason. It’s cheap, entertaining, and isn’t filled with freaks & phonies. And we’re famous for our fruits & vegetables due to all the rain & farmland in the outskirt cities.
