Buttigieg raised more money from individual donors than any other Democrat.

Interesting. I heard some “expert” on a radio talk show declare that there has never been a case in history in which there is such a gap between somebody’s fund-raising and their poll numbers. Obviously Mayor Pete has lots of enthusiastic and prosperous adherents, but is not yet resonating throughout the mainstream.

  1. Buttigieg is a favorite among the white liberal upper class, who have loads of discretionary income. It’s the same elite crowd who give money to NPR and other causes.

That said, it’s probably better than being a candidate who raises money from a tiny handful of billionaires.

  2. John Connally raised more money than any other Republican Primary Presidential candidate in 1980, including Ronald Reagan, up to the time he dropped out:

After spending $11 million during the campaign, Connally secured the support of only a single delegate, Ada Mills of Clarksville, Arkansas, who became nationally known for a brief time as the “$11 million delegate”.
