Donald Trump reportedly wants to purchase Greenland from Denmark

The US president has ‘expressed interest’ in the icy territory … but the Danes have yet to weigh in.”

The USA has tried to purchase Greenland before, but the American advances have always heretofore been rebuffed.

As a US territory, it could eventually become the largest U.S. State in area, but by far the smallest in population. Although it is three times the size of Texas, only 56,000 people live there, and there are no settlements with more than 20,000 inhabitants.

The capital, Nuuk, looks sort of livable. July and August are the only months free from snow in that town, but temperatures can reach the 70s in summer, albeit rarely. The average high in July is a still-chilly fifty (ten centigrade).

  1. Also, Greenland is inhabited by only white people, so it will immediately become a state!

    (Suck it, Puerto Rico!)

  2. No wonder. Greenland represent a huge deposit of rare earths, the only one on the planet which could compete with China. This is a huge geostargical advantage. For once, I would say “well done Trump” if he succeeds. (I don’t see the Danes going for it though).

    1. Agree, except for the “geostargical” part; I don’t know what that means.

The whole discussion is probably just Trump rambling in a vacuum, but it would be a genius move if he could somehow pull it off.
