  1. I actually feel bad for Hickenlooper. I looked into his background and found a self-made man who was a fairly good mayor and governor, who genuinely tried to solve problems and find bi-partisan solutions. He might have had more success running 20 years ago, when moderates had a stronger foothold in both parties.

    1. I agree. In the course of making fun of him so much, I’ve read a lot about him, and I’ve come to like and admire him as a sane, reasonable man who actually listens to people.

He’s the kind of man we need, but not the kind we want.

He might make a good senator iff’n he can get elected.

      1. I still have hope that if and when Joe Biden’s support collapses (or, and not to laugh at this, but given his age, if he collapses) that a good deal of his support will go to Governor Inslee. Like, Hickenlooper, Inslee is a fairly popular and pragmatic Governor of a liberal leaning pro-business Democratic state.

Politicians who go too far out in Washington State tend to get defeated.
For instance, the socialist Seattle city councilwoman Kshama Sawant, first elected to much fanfare in 2015, received just 37% of the recent primary and is in a tight race for reelection.

        1. received just 37% of the recent primary

Should say ‘received just 37% of the vote in the recent primary.’

If Biden’s support does collapse, I think it’s more likely it would go to Mayor Pete Buttigieg or Senator (and former mayor) Cory Booker with some to Senator Amy Klobuchar. So, those with executive governing experience aren’t out of the race yet.

One can argue that being the mayor of a city with a population around 100,000 isn’t all that much experience (compared to Donald Trump though?) but Buttigieg, also unlike Trump, is clearly incredibly intelligent.
