Verlander throws his third no-hitter

Only Koufax and Nolan Ryan have thrown more

He seemed to be losing it at the end of his Detroit days. He posted seasons like 13-12, 15-12, 5-8 and 10-8, and his ERA soared as high as 4.54.

That’s forgotten now. The Astros have given him a new lease on life. Since joining them, his record is 38-14, and his worst ERA has been this year’s 2.56! He now has 221 lifetime wins against only 128 losses.

  1. This Indians fan knows exactly what happened in their good days. Dombrowski couldn’t put together a bullpen to save his life. That was enough to counter Steinbrenner Midwest’s (Ilich – and I do know that he was about 400 times the human being that the Boss was) penchant to throw out the huge money. That “bullpen” might have cost them 1 or 2 rings.
“couldn’t win anything”? Well they did have this really bad habit of winning the Central most of the time.

  2. Not so sure what’s wrong with Detroit. They had pitchers like Verlander, Scherzer, Price, and Porcello, and still couldn’t win anything.

They also trade Nicholas Castellanos to the Cubs and he becomes an MVP player almost immediately. Same thing happened with JD Martinez two years ago.
