Oh, by the way – TOTAL quid pro quo

Opening statement of Ambassador William B. Taylor

Short version: “Everything Ukraine wanted — from a one-on-one meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to hundreds of millions in security aid — was dependent on publicly announcing an investigation that included Burisma, the company that hired Biden’s son Hunter, and Ukraine’s alleged involvement in the 2016 election.”

Shorter version: Trump very, very corrupt. As the jury foreman said in The Producers:

Oh, and by the way, for those of you who believe the obviously false White House spin that Trump was really trying to fight corruption: “Trump administration sought billions of dollars in cuts to programs aimed at fighting corruption in Ukraine.”

Trump fighting corruption? Talk about the fox guarding the henhouse! That might have been the least believable lie ever, even worse than Rudy’s claim that he was going to Vienna for a completely different purpose from meeting with Lev and Igor, and was only planning to meet with them when they returned (He cancelled the trip when they were arrested, and they had one-way tickets to begin with.)

  1. I’d just like to point out that it’s not necessary for there to be a “quid pro quo” for it to be a blatant abuse of power. If the President asks a foreign government to do things that are only in the President’s personal interest and not in the USA’s interest, that’s wildly unethical.

It’s abundantly clear that it is not in the USA’s interest for Ukraine to open an investigation of Hunter Biden. It is in President Trump’s interest. That’s what makes it bad. He didn’t have to withhold anything or promise anything to make it bad. Yes, withholding congressionally-mandated funds makes it *worse*, but the President is not supposed to be using his office to help himself personally.

      1. Undercutting a friendly country trying to defend itself against a very unfriendly country is decidedly not in our best interests. Actually with all the shit currently hitting the fan it hasn’t really been in the Orange Buffoon’s best interests either.

      2. But that’s not what happened. He demanded the push a dumb conspiracy theory. Not that your type can see the difference.

  2. There are many many people in gov’t who will stop at nothing to destroy Trump. That includes former ambassadors. Taylor’s opening statement was already debunked during the Q & A, but Schiff won’t release that transcript. Trump released his, so where is Schiff’s?

Imagine that, one side goes out of their way to be transparent, while the other side holds their staged hearings in a closed basement room.

The only reason this continues to happen is because the dirty, guilty politicians who have much to hide are able to manipulate the press into reporting their narrative. Notice how it ends up wrong every single time? But by then, it’s on to the next fake narrative.

For christ sakes, look at what was said about Syria/Turkey a week ago. Now they’ve achieved peace because of Trump. Just more fake, phony news coming from every angle, and yet your President continues to succeed.

    1. People see what they want to see, even in the absence of facts. Lots of people are simply blinded by their hatred of Trump. They miss or ignore the many accomplishments. If Obama was overseeing an economy like this, brokered peace between turkey and the Kurds, decimated isis, reduced taxes, renegotiated nafta to the benefit of the US, beat China in a badly overdue trade war…. he’d be sainted by the pope and cnn would declare him the best president in american history. Unfortunately trumps demeanor doesn’t help his cause however.

      1. Try something like “the Russians brokered an arrangement between the Syrians and the Turks to screw our allies the Kurds with no input from the US. You and Brobonk can drink some Kool Aid, can’t you?

          1. You sound pretty fucking nuts, and I doubt you’re a moderate or a Democrat. If you haven’t spent the time to read the opening statement on the record Monday from Bill Taylor, kindly shut the hell up. It’s 15 pages, it explain it’s great detail the string of activities that occurred and it’s crystal clear Trump withheld military aid based on an investigation of the Biden’s. Not only that, he wanted him to go live on national TV with a prepared statement stating he was investigating political opponents.

And while you take the time to read, which I’m sure you won’t, feel free to look into other independent studies. None of your statements have any providence in fact and are flat out lies. The ‘accomplishments’ you mentioned are a joke. Trump’s tax cuts only helped the top 1% and virtually nothing went to the middle or lower class.

From the National Association for Business economics:
“Eighty-four percent of businesses said they didn’t accelerate hiring because of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which President Donald Trump hailed as “a bill for the middle class and a bill for jobs.” Only 6 percent said they had more hires because of the law.”

8 out of 10 Americans live paycheck to paycheck, and six out of 10 don’t even have $500 savings. I’m sure the economy is great when Trump can spend the most money in Presidential history on his vacations each weekend to his resort, and his rich conservative buddies, but it’s not so much for everyone else.

And NAFTA? The ITC reported at best it helps the auto sector, which I’m sure will go to the top just like his tax plan, and the overall effect “making overall U.S. production more expensive, reducing exports, and denting wages and employment.”

And the China trade ‘win’? 15 billion in aid to the deficit, to offset a tariff that’s done virtually nothing to China. And where’s that money going? To corrupt business mostly, of course, including where “the government paid nearly $2.8 million to a Missouri soybean operation registered as three entities at the same address.”

I could have thought of about 15 billion better ways to spend that money, especially to fight China, including building a serious CyberSecurity Infrastructure and supporting Hong Kong and Taiwan instead of this piddly waste of money.

Next time, actually spend some time to research your facts. Nothing comes out of the White House’s communication except pure bullshit that doesn’t hold up when independent professional get their hands on his propaganda.

Comment less, and go do some research.

    2. Yeah, editing transcripts and refusing subpoenas is totally transparent.

God, you cultists are so hopeless.

      1. Hopefully they just drink the Kool-Aid like Jonestown. I’m awaiting Trump’s after Presidency life where he forms his own religion and waits for the giant MAGA spaceship to come and pick them all up.

Darwinism is having a field day with these fuckwits.

    3. I wondered when you were going to show up to tell us how Trump the Chess Master is winning. As for the disgraceful events regarding our Trump-betrayed allies the Kurds, a little Tacitus will do: “They make a desert and call it peace”. Those ambassadors who tell the truth are giving your hero, his consig Rudy, and the soon-to-be-shitcanned Mr. Get Over It some problems, aren’t they?

  3. hey Indy … whats it like to wake up every morning and have Trump live in your head rent free … must be an awesome feeling … thanks for calling me an asshole …. but after that crazy assed rant I believe you beat me there to being an asshole first … lol … hope you get over your mental craziness soon … good luck … keep watching CNN … !!!

    1. I do fine for myself, it’s you nutjobs that need to worry. How’s the meth lab going by the way?

      1. You are confusing the two Steve’s commenting on here. Regardless, I did read the opening statement per my first comment. You are drawing conclusions. There is no smoking gun. Regardless, I do think you have mental issues. You seem completely unhinged. Not to mention, I’m very concerned about anyone who would spend this much time writing essays on gossip sites about Donald trump. Personally I’m perfectly happy electing Joe Biden next year. But of course he’s not crazy enough for you.

        1. LOL…well said … it is really fun to come on this site and read all the crap these crazy people write everyday about Trump … he is really in their head … so funny … they don’t see the stuff Obama did…Clinton did … that is okay stuff with them … I just want to know one thing … what has the left done in congress other than try to beat down Trump … what have they accomplished ???

          1. Probably because you can’t actually associate anything reasonable with Obama or Clinton. I don’t care about Clinton, I don’t like her, but trying to fit an information security problem that Trump and his family have broke several times on an equal level in office is ridiculous. Unless you, yourself, can create a private server and explain it, again, shut the hell up. Any person can do it, emails are based on protocols and storage and it’s no deep state conspiracy.

Trump has used his own mobile devices combined with his secured devices, which is significantly worse. Republicans JUST stormed into the House yesterday with mobile devices. If an exploit is on any of those connected devices, it’s caused major breach. This isn’t stuff to play around with, so if you apply the same policies to Clinton, then do it for everyone, including Trump and the Republicans that broke the law.

Trump doesn’t need to be in my head, I come out once in a blue moon to call an idiot an idiot with hopes maybe you will go educate yourself.

      2. Here’s a very simple sociological reality. Sanity is the generally agreed upon perspective of reality. If you look around and everyone seems insane to you, then by definition you are the one who is insane. From a psychological standpoint, the individual who agrees with the majority is correct. And everyone else is a radical. You are a radical and although you think you are right, in the relative terms of society, you are a loon.

    2. Vraylar run out again? If you can’t afford your refill, they probably could line you up a coupon

  4. I’ve read the opening statement and while there is plenty of hearsayy and conjecture, ultimately the funds were released without any public statement made by the Ukrainian President. And the only factual statements witnessed were with regards to investigations into corruption and interference in the 2016 election.

This stinks but isn’t enough to prove anything one way or the other. Wanting it to, doesn’t make it so.

    1. Asking for help from foreign governments in a federal election is illegal, regardless of whether fund were released.

  5. The funny thing is the entire defense is based on Trump repeating things like “No quid pro quo! No collusion! No obstruction!”

Then immediately either confirming, or attempting those very same things without the word use. Let’s be clear here, Trump has the vocabulary and mental capacity of a three year old. The only thing he knows is if someone opposes him and uses a “no no word”, he just says it didn’t happen.

He’s so mentally impaired, he has no knowledge of what these words actually MEAN. He literally works on the capacity of a toddler, he only knows what word is or isn’t bad, can’t explain it, and immediately lashes out against anyone who says he can’t get what he wants.

This is an individual who wrote a letter to a dictator that sounded like his use of the English language never exceeded the fifth grade. This is an individual that used a fucking sharpie to make up where entire departments and research goes into studying a complex hurricane goes. This is an individual who spends hundreds of millions of taxpayer money to go play with his toys every weekend.

And in the end, either his supporters or Republicans entire defense is that’s he didn’t use the ‘no no word’ because he’s too fucking handicapped to know what it means, or his cabinet ignores most of his intentions as rambling of a madman.

There’s no doubt if his intelligence level was actually above the level of a toddler, and his intentions matched his intelligence, he would sell out any US Service Member or citizen and send them off to get killed in military aid as long as it benefited him personally and politically. Just like he did with Jamal Khashoggi in Saudi Arabia, just like he did with the Kurds, and just like he did with the Ukrainians.

It’s time to impeach. And if any of his cult members respond, you’re just as mentally handicapped and objectively evil as he is, and if you believe in karma, or Hell, or whatever your belief system is – expect a ticket there, assholes.
