Remember how the Braves had not won a post-season series since time immemorial?

They still haven’t.

They lost control of this game immediately. In the the entire history of major league ball, no team had ever scored ten runs in the first inning of a post-season game.

Now they have.

The Cards sent fourteen batters to the plate in that inning. Among the first eleven, only one made an out, and that was intentional. (There was a sac bunt early in the inning when it was still possible that a single run might be important.) The Braves’ Mike Foltynewicz had a 162.00 ERA for this game!

  1. And let me add…what a classless move by the Braves pinch hitting for McCann with two outs and 12 runs behind knowing he was going to retire after this game. Not many people left in the stands but he could have gotten a proper send off.

  2. Yeah that first inning had everything… GG 1B Freeman makes an error (but on replay you might give Ozuma for baserunning right in front of him while not getting hit by the ball) You bring in your reliever, who is a 17 game winner, to face the pitcher and he walks in a run. The 10th run came on a strikeout missed by the catcher. Ozuna paused for 2 seconds before running but McCann fumbled with the ball at the backstop.

And when was the last time any team scored 10 runs in an inning without a HR?
