Majority of Republicans say Trump is a better president than Lincoln

What could be more obvious?

Historians tend to view him somewhat differently. They rank him 42nd in general out of the 44 men who have held the job, and they rank him dead last in intelligence, integrity and some other categories.

  1. Trump has 95% support within his party, but as long as he’s ending wars and destroying the deep state, he’ll always be an outsider in D.C.

    1. It’s hilarious how you cultists present him as an outsider. There’s no one more ‘deep state’ than Trump. Claiming he drained the swamp, is more like overflowing the swamp with nuclear waste.

The entire idea of a ‘deep state’ is Washington filled with private and corporate interests. Trump not only did that, he went ALL IN on that!

Virtually every individual appointed by Trump has been someone with vested private interest in the position and manipulated the public position for their own gain. Look no further than Betsy Devos, the queen of privatizing education and student loan sharking, coming in and immediately pushing policies that would help industries she’s vested in.

The tax cuts in 2017 cut the corporate tax rate and the top 1%, and the money flowed directly to the top, as expected. All that tea party bullshit that was argued by the GOP under Obama was a lie, as it’s also exploded the deficit.

And Trump himself shows himself to be nothing but a gluttonous Washington suit when he’s spent more money than any President in history on his vacations.

The only ‘deep state’ Trump is destroying is the position of his golf ball in the rough every weekend on the taxpayer’s dime.

  2. I think Reagan is rated way too high by historians. His administration was rife with corruption, his age had him being controlled by his handlers and so on.

  3. “President Reagan raised taxes eleven times over the course of his presidency, but the overall tax burden went down during his presidency”.
    We’re both right.
Reagan and Bush1 were the last Republican Presidents who paid attention to the deficit in any way. Since then it’s been fantasyland – keep cutting taxes, pile up debt and kick the day of reckoning down the road. Mulvaney trots out a $1 trillion budget and calls himself a “fiscal hawk”. Sheesh.

  4. Either this is tongue in cheek or the current “Republicans” (Trumpists really) are even more stupid than I thought. He raised taxes? You need to do some research but fast.

          1. To rephrase, after the tax reduction in 1981 and then the subsequent tax increases under Reagan, taxes were still lower than they were in 1980.

Of course, deficits were much higher but that’s not a problem for Republicans when there’s a Republican administration.

        1. To be clear, the net effect of ~30 years of GOP propaganda is that there’s no such thing as a good reason for tax increases. Let the Dems do it if it needs to be done. That way you have someone to blame if the shit hits the fan.

          See Kansas for more details.

  5. They should do another poll where Republicans have to pick between Trump and Reagan. I would be curious to see the outcome.

    1. Reagan was a libtard who raised taxes. Trump would knock the black paint right out of his hair.

      1. Reagan raised taxes? I have completely forgotten that. All I remember is his tax reform, which cut taxes heavily and blew the deficit sky high. I remember Bush the Elder raising taxes, because of all the “read my lips” stuff.

PS – Do you mean the Reagan Social Security tax increase? I remember THAT. That is very different from an income tax increase, because it only taxes the first $100k or income or less.

  6. I guess that makes sense. Why would racists regard Lincoln as a good President? They would have preferred Jefferson Davis at the time.
