SHOCK: Kobe Bryant, former NBA star and Los Angeles Lakers legend, dies at 41

Bryant, 41, was killed along with one of his daughters, 13-year-old Gianna, in a helicopter crash

“In 2006, at age 27, Bryant scored an amazing 81 points in a single game against the Toronto Raptors. Two years later, he earned the league’s Most Valuable Player award, calling the trophy a blessing at the time. At 34, Bryant became the youngest player in NBA history to earn 30,000 career points, edging other scoring greats such as Abdul-Jabar, Chamberlain, Karl Malone and Michael Jordan. He is currently the fourth-highest scorer of all-time in the league.”

(Kareem is the #1 scorer of all time. LeBron should be in the future, if he plays three more seasons.)

  1. Sad. Where’s the video? All I’ve seen in the videos were helicopters hovering in fog. This time of the year, there’s the Marine Layer effect in southern California in the mornings, which often limits visibility, at least when I was there in the morning, to about 20 feet. Time will tell.

  2. LeBron just passed his point total YESTERDAY.
There appears to be video of the crash taken by bystanders on an overlook. I would have thought fuel starvation because of the flightpath (they were hovering for quite a while over Glendale) , but there was a huge fireball.
I don’t think weather had a cause in it, it appeared to be a clear windless day.
All the passengers were part of his daughters basketball team.

  3. 1. Tragic on many levels
    2. I work in aerospace, and the Sikorsky S-76 is a terrific executive helicopter. It’s a twin engine aircraft, BTW.
    3. I’m thinking weather, but the FAA and NTSB will dissect this investigation.
    4. My thoughts and prayers to his family.
