The greatest Oscar snub of all: no nods for Velocipastor

“Pastor Stewart becomes infected by a curse in China, resulting in him turning into a Velociraptor when he becomes angry. He decides to kill criminals, including drug-dealing ninjas.”

Oddly enough, he does not harm other drug dealers or other ninjas. It’s the combination that really sets him off.

  1. The movie is pure joy. Made by high school friends who stole the suit from their high school, it’s something you never get to see anymore: a pure work of art borne out of fun and silliness. No effort to make money, go viral, get laid, or anything else. They wanted to make really funny, really dumb movie together and have an extremely good time doing it and achieved exactly that.

  2. I am not sure why it was snubbed, but assuming the film is the great work of cinema we would expect from the title, the problem is probably confusion over the year. The Wikipedia page you link to has it listed as a 2017 film, the “Just Watch” website has it listed as a 2018 film, but Amazon Prime lists it as a 2019 film. FYI, that Just watch page indicates you can stream the movie at either Amazon Prime or something called “Flix Fling.” Come to think of it, the issue may be a lack of a theatrical release. That is probably the reason it didn’t/wont win Best Picture. The producers should have promoted it better. If only they had gone to Uncle Scoopy last year I am sure it would now be the favorite.
