  1. The headline is just a snark. In the article, there is no break point between expensive and not, but rather a smooth continuum, so even somebody with a modest $25,000 car is expected to be a bigger jerk than somebody with a $19,000 car. The study suggests that there is a linear relationship between the cost of the car and the jerkiness of the driver, with “the likelihood they’ll slow down (when necessary) decreasing by 3% for every extra $1,000 that their vehicle is worth.”

Having made that point. I doubt the results, or at least some aspects of them.

    1. My point is just that someone who makes 100k a year and drives a 100k car is probably a different level of asshole than someone who makes 1 million a year and drives a 100k car. Doesn’t seem that the study took into account the value of the car relative to the buyer

      1. I don’t know whether they looked at any other variables, but if you read the study’s top line, it suggests that a guy who makes 100k a year and drives a 100k car is less of an asshole than someone who makes a billion a year and drives a 110k car.

As to whether that is true or not …

Well, personally I doubt that their results can be reproduced.
