“BERNIE SANDERS SAYS U.S. MUST PAY EVERY AMERICAN HOUSEHOLD $2,000 PER MONTH UNTIL CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC ENDS”

“We need to provide a direct emergency $2,000 cash payment to every household in America every month for the duration of the crisis to provide them with the assistance they need to pay their bills and take care of their families.”

  1. I’ve been wondering if I will count as an “American worker” given that I am currently retired on disability. While I haven’t lost a job because of the crisis, half my income comes from investments. Given the state of the markets I may not see any of that income for quite a while. $1,000/month would help me relax a bit. $2,000 seems excessive to me (not that I would refuse it if the government sent it to me). But my household consists of one middle aged guy. It doesn’t make much sense to me to send individuals living alone the same amount as a family of 5 (or 10). Also, does it make sense to send the same amount of money to someone that’s been laid off as to an individual that is still receiving their full pay? Given the unprecedented crisis we are going to have to bust the deficit wide open. But their have to be limits. Steve Mnuchin said they want to get cash to Americans in the next two weeks. I don’t think that’s enough time to differentiate people based on their circumstances so at least the first such payments will probably go to everyone. Perhaps they should look into doubling or tripling unemployment payments as a way to get money to people that have lost income as a result of the virus. On the other hand, sure I’ll take $2,000 a month.

  2. In the US, there are going to be two choices : economy or lives … Choice 1 : accept the economy is going to tank badly, very badly, mitigate the effect on the millions of people who are going to lose their job or their company by a massive “New deal” yet to be invented… or the “not have” are going to go get it and with 400 million weapons out there …
Choice 2 : Continue to let people work as usual and accept the few millions of people who are going to die to preserve the economy and the american way of life (and death)…
Navigating between the two (which Trump is trying to do) is going to prove very difficult I am afraid …

  3. this is dumb as is Romney’s $1000 plan. I don’t need $1K right now. I may need it but not now. Send extra to the hardest hit. The ones who are unemployed right now,

    1. The only fair way to do it is to send all the money to me, and I will determine how to allocate it.

On a completely unrelated matter, how many blow jobs can you get for a trillion dollars? Asking for a friend.

    2. And those soon to be unemployed. The country is likely going to see a repeat of 2008 or worse. It’s Deja vu all over again.
