  1. Mayor Pete certainly could have stayed in through tomorrow before dropping out. But he did something kind of rare in politics these days. He put the well being of the nation (as he sees it) and the Democratic party over hos own self aggrandizement. He is afraid of splitting votes for moderation and thus giving the nomination to Bernie. I really respect him for that. I see Bernie getting the nomination as being the Democratic party equivalent of Barry Goldwater getting the GOP nomination in 1964. If he gets the nomination, I hope it works out for the Dems as well as it did for the GOP. After the election the GOP was left with less than 1/3 of the seats in each of the House and Senate. That won’t happen to the Dems as they aren’t starting as far behind, but I would be quite happy if the GOP picks up 37 seats in the House and 2 in the Senate. That might almost make up for Bernie making me vote for Trump.

I will vote for Biden or Bloomberg over Trump, but not Bernie. What is it with the Dems and “B” candidates? I would rather Biden or Bloomberg get the nomination even if Bernie would lead to large House and Senate gains for the GOP because a Bernie win (unlikely that it may be) would be awful for this country. Part of the problem is that you never know what Trump might do in the days leading up to the election to grab defeat from the jaws of victory.

  2. Trump is now the youngest running for president. Mayor Pete will run for Senate and be like the three losers in the democratic primary and yes Sanders is a loser and a senator that has done nothing in senate or when he was in house.

    1. The youngest MALE.

Pocahontas and Klobuchar are younger, and still running, but with no realistic chance.

  3. Give Mayor Pete credit for making a smart decision. He had no realistic path to victory, and staying in would have needlessly split the moderate vote. This way, he makes a graceful exit, and doesn’t burn his bridges with the party establishment.

It will be interesting to see what Mayor Pete does next. I still can’t imagine him winning statewide office in Indiana. Maybe a cabinet position in a Biden administration?

    1. Pete can run for President 8 more time in a row and still — at that point 32 years from now — be younger than the 4 remaining Democratic candidates.
