Trump: Andrew Cuomo would be better presidential candidate than Biden

True enough, but not a high hurdle to clear. Shemp Howard would be a better candidate than Biden.

And not just while he was alive.

  1. A guy’s up there talking virus and you’re staring at his nipples? Then you start in about someone else losing credibility?
The irony-meter’s gonna need an overhaul…

  2. Your guy lost all credibility yesterday during his Covid-19 press conference. Dude was wearing a shirt that seemed to show his nipple piercings???

Nothing really surprises me at this point, but there’s a time and place for partytits. The coronavirus presser isn’t it.

      1. I know, right? How does anyone take this guy seriously now?

If Trump showed up with barbells in his nipples we’d never hear the end of it.

        1. When will we get to the serious questions for our candidates? Boxers or briefs? Bill Clinton answered, why won’t Biden?

          1. Hell, they won’t even tell us what kind of tree they’d be if they were trees.

  3. This is just Trump trying to stir shit up and troll the Democratic Party. Please don’t fall for it.

  4. Back in 1992, SNL did a skit called something like “Decision 1992, the Race to Avoid Being the Guy to Lose to George Bush.” This was back when Bush Sr. had an approval rating in the high 80’s (a little more than twice Trump’s normal approval rating). If I remember right, it was Phil Hartman doing Mario Cuomo that when asked why he shouldn’t be the Dem nominee said “I have mob ties!” I’ve never heard any such whispers about Andrew, but he receive a great deal of criticism For shutting down a commission looking into governmental corruption in Albany when (it was alleged) it got close to some of his supporters.

But even with that he would be a very strong candidate. But the only way he could be the nominee is if Biden waited to clinch the nomination, then dropped out while asking his delegates to support Cuomo. That’s possible but unlikely. It’s also unlikely Biden chooses him as his running mate as Biden has all but promised to select a woman.

    1. That was a great sketch, but to be fair, each candidate tried to come up with the most outrageous claim that would get him eliminated from consideration. For example, the rap on Al Gore was that Tipper had to be there instead of Al that night because Gore was busy taking the kids to a gay porn film. So the claims were meant to be outrageous, not to represent realistic possibilities.

      But for the record:

“Sen. Bentsen, I resent the suggestion that you are somehow more the candidate of Willie Horton than anyone else here! The fact is, as governor of New York, I have pardoned criminals far worse than Willie Horton! Including key figures in organized crime, who happen to be close friends of mine! Yes! I’m talking about the mob

Now, I could stand here and talk about the inaccuracy of polling, or the subjective nature of the process – but that’s not the real issue here! The real issue is simple – I.. have.. mob ties!”

      1. Oh I didn’t bring up the sketch as a way to get in a serious allegation against Mario Cuomo. But as it happens, I actually lived in Albany in 1992. I heard lots of people claim mob ties were the reason he wouldn’t run. I honestly don’t remember who I heard it from, though I heard it a lot. Of course, many of my friends at the time were Republicans, so… I believe this allegation was an example of anti-Italian prejudice. I grew up in an Irish Italian neighborhood (that has since become mostly Irish) and spent about a decade working in pizza places. I had several Italian friends that told me that most Italians (at least in the NY area) have at least one family member that knows someone in the mob. Does that constitute a tie? Not without a much tighter connection in my opinion. I am fairly sure that if there was actual evidence of a close connection it would have come up in one of his gubernatorial campaigns.

  5. I’m old enough to remember when Andrew Cuomo’s father kept teasing a Presidential run in 1992. I had a liberal friend in college who cried when Mario decided not to do it. He was easily the most charismatic politician on the Democratic side.

    1. If I recall, they wanted Cuomo to run in ‘84 and ‘88. Neither of former Governor Cuomo’s sons are like like him.

    2. I don’t know whether Mario would have been a good president or not, but the way he handled the whole “Will I or Won’t I” scenario was annoying as hell and made him come across like an attention whore.

      1. The rumor in NYC was that Mario had some skeletons in the closet that were not meant to see the light of day.

  6. But Andrew Cuomo chose not to run/compete in the caucuses and primaries for President. Replacing Biden with Cuomo while Bernie has an actual delegate count will not go over well with Bernie supporters , nor with rank and file Democrats that supported Biden. There’s a maxim that you dance with the partner you brought.

    1. Andrew Cuomo has way too many skeletons in the closet. He won’t run simply because of what could come out. If he’s bold enough to try, he will be risking prison.

      1. Huh. In the age of Trump, skeletons in the closet still matter? Why don’t they matter for Trump?

        1. The GOP is inherently corrupt. The Dems are more likely to throw Cuomo to the wolves.
