  1. You’re welcome. Incidentally my mom and her fellow nurses knew the invasion was going to Normandy several hours before Rommel and several weeks before Hitler. When you’re in Yeovil (Somerset) and every single transport plane (they made different sounds than bombers) in England was seemingly going over your hospital and heading straight south, it pretty much meant (1) this was it and (2) the Calais area was pretty ruled much out. The transports were carrying the 82nd AB, 101st AB, and the Brit 6th AB Div. That is a shitload of planes and even with earplugs it was days before her hearing got back to normal.

  2. Off topic – 75 years ago some guy named Eisenhower sent out this telegram:
    “The mission of this Allied Force was fulfilled at 0241, local time, May 7th, 1945”.
    Personal note: In 1943 in a small place called Yeovil in SW England, an Army ordinance major and Army nurse captain over there for the Overlord thing went on a blind date. Among the results (a few years later) was myself.
