Louie Gohmert, who refused to wear a mask, tests positive for coronavirus

He tested positive for COVID-19 on July 29, 2020, a day after he appeared before the House Oversight Committee without wearing a mask.

In the words of Stephen Colbert, playing his Colbert Report character:

People have said to me, ‘Stephen you gotta understand, you don’t even know your history. You’re dumb. You’re dense. You’re a mental midget with the IQ of a butter dish whose mind is a black hole that sucks all surrounding thought into it in an infinite singularity of pure stupidity. Stephen I’m surprised you can even dress yourself. I bet you have to rub peanut butter inside your lips to remember to open your mouth to breathe. I have never met, and I hope never to meet, a man so pervasively, astoundingly, unyieldingly ignorant.’

To which I say, ‘Well, then you haven’t met Louie Gohmert.’

  1. “Hours later, he told Fox News host Sean Hannity he and his doctor already had agreed on a treatment: hydroxychloroquine, the antimalarial drug pushed by President Trump and his allies despite warnings from the Food and Drug Administration and medical experts that it isn’t effective as a coronavirus treatment and could carry significant health risks.

‘My doctor and I are all in,’ Gohmert said on Fox News on Wednesday evening, adding he would start taking the drug ‘in the next day or two.’

Gohmert’s interview followed a day of heavy blowback as the congressman ignored experts’ advice on how to avoid spreading the potentially deadly virus, as he insisted on returning to the Capitol and filmed a new video questioning the effectiveness of masks.”

    1. Thanks, Tanner. I suppose I should not be glad to hear of Gohmert’s choice for treatment, but I am. Very, VERY glad.

  2. Wouldn’t he have contracted the virus from someone else not wearing a mask? I thought the mask was to protect others and not yourself

    1. I thought they helped in both regards. I hope the CDC website will have the right answer, despite how much Trump has been messing with them.

  3. And then there’s the passing of Herman Cain from Covid-19…if Gohmert had a brain, he’d be worried.

  4. Karma really can be a beautiful thing. It doesn’t give me much joy to say this, but I honestly hope he suffers from a pretty severe case — A) he deserves it for recklessly endangering others with his irresponsible actions, and B) there’s a contingent of morons in this world, and Gohmert is clearly one of them, that will never learn unless beaten with the evidence.

And even then, he probably still won’t, since one of the current Republican Party’s bedrock principles is steadfastly denying any and all evidence to the contrary of their cultish beliefs.
