Gov. Kemp bans cities, counties from mandating masks

UPDATE:

Georgia governor Brian Kemp sues the mayor of Atlanta over the city’s mask mandate.

I do have words this time. His justification is absolutely ridiculous. “This lawsuit is on behalf of the Atlanta business owners and their hardworking employees who are struggling to survive during these difficult times. These men and women are doing their very best to put food on the table for their families while local elected officials shutter businesses and undermine economic growth.” All of his points are totally irrelevant. The mask ordinance does not prevent anyone from going to work or opening a business, or anything else, for that matter. It merely requires that people wear a mask while doing so. You want proof that America’s education system is failing? All you need to know is this: Brian Kemp graduated from college.

  1. I hope people remember how low the Republican Party has sunk for decades. It took about 20 years for the general public to forget about McCarthyism, and this is much worse.

Or maybe in 60 years they will build statues of heroes like Kemp and DeSantis. That’s how long it took for a lot of the Confederate general statues to go up. You never know if people are going to learn their lesson or defiantly cling to their errors. Many people can’t admit their mistakes, and if people died because of the mistake, then they REALLY have to insist they were right all along.

Oh, well, at least Kemp hasn’t gone whole hog and prohibited mask wearing on the grounds that it aids criminal behavior and Antifa terrorists. You know he wants to.

    1. “and if people died because of the mistake, then they REALLY have to insist they were right all along.“ People have a need to justify the deaths.

  2. Just a few words …

Georgia is definitely a state to watch on election day. Recent polling re: govs approval rating:

    AZ ~ Ducey 35%
    FL ~ DeSantis 48%
    TX ~ Abbott 44%
    GA ~ Kemp 43%
    IA ~ Reynolds 37%

IOW the opposite effect of a rising tide lifts all boats!

    1. I can’t quite get my head around the fact that 48% of Floridians approve of DeSantis.

As ol’ Casey Stengel used to say – “amazin'”

Maybe they just look north at Georgia and say, “Hey, could be worse.”
