The House finally approved the infrastructure bill

The Senate has already passed an absolutely identical version, so the bill goes to Biden for the final step, and he will certainly sign it.

Note: That’s the one that everyone likes, even the GOP. It passed the senate 69 to 30. Elsewhere, the Democratic moderates and progressives are still squabbling, trying to finalize the social programs bill that began with a three trillion dollar price tag and is now hovering at about half of that – if it ever passes at all.

The amazing thing about this: after all the wrangling, whipping and hand-wringing, the Democrats did NOT have enough votes to pass it. Six Democrats voted against it, therefore it would have been defeated 215-219 if the GOP had held the line.

It passed because 13 Republicans broke ranks to vote “yea.” The rest of the Republicans, at least the Trumpiest ones, are very upset at those turncoats.

    1. Yeah stick it. Also careful what you wish for. Do you WANT to see MTG’s ass? I’m sure she’d do it for the attention, but eeeeww.

      1. Actually I kinda do.

She does that cross fit shit so she’s at least in pretty good shape. Its about the only positive thing I can say about her.

  1. Libs need to firm up the base and try to at least keep NJ or 22 will be interesting.

If conservatives get the house how long till we hear the impeachment drums being beat?

    1. Even if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v Wade next June, there is almost no way the Democrats hold the house. The GOP only needs to gain 5 seats to take control. They have a redistricting advantage to go along with being the party out of power. I just wish there was a way to get Paul Ryan to come back as Speaker. I suppose that could technically happen as there is no requirement the Speaker be elected to Congress. But I kind of doubt he could get elected even if he was still in Congress. He’s too moderate. Not in ideology as he is extremely conservative, but in methods. Ryan doesn’t believe every disagreement has to be resolved by all out thermonuclear war.

I am sure there will be reps calling for Biden to be impeached. I am sure some are already doing that. But we really need to step back from threatening impeachment because of political disagreements. To the best of my knowledge, Biden hasn’t done anything to warrant impeachment. Well maybe if evidence surfaced that he was profiting from his son’s art sales. That whole business is extremely shady. But if Biden is ever removed from office, I’d think it more likely to happen via the 25th Amendment. He is definitely not as sharp as he used to be. But if his mind degraded enough the cabinet was considering removing him, I have to believe he’d resign. Unlike a certain former Cheeto and Chief, Biden really does want to do what he thinks is best for the country.

My believing that a Democrat wants to do what they think is best for the country even though I disagree about what that is just proves I have become a RINO in my middle age. Forget I was VP of the College Republicans or President of the Federalist Society. A TRUE Republican would never admit a Democrat’s motivations were anything but venal.
