  1. I’m not sure what sexual misconduct Chris Cuomo has been accused of. But ignoring that for the moment, it isn’t hard to sympathize with his desire to help and protect his brother. But CNN didn’t have much choice but to fire him, especially if he is accused as well. But given the history of the “Me Too” movement we have been living through the last few years, the arrogance of Andrew and now maybe Chris believing that they can get away with things that have ended the careers of other powerful men is astounding. If it were me, I think I’d believe I could “get away with” less offensive behavior with the spotlight on me than I could as a nobody. Chris Cuomo had the top rated show on CNN. Bill O’Reilly, who I think had the top rated show on Fox, was fired over misconduct. Is MSNBC next?

I read a NY Times article a couple of weeks ago about the decision by Jonah Goldberg and Steve Hayes (2 anti-Trump conservatives) to resign from their “Fox News Contributor” positions in protest of Tucker Carlson 3 part series on Fox Nation called Patriot Purge. In that series, Tucker allegedly reported conspiracy theories as true, including that January 6th was a false flag operation (i.e. perpetrated by Antifa not Trump supporters) and that the Biden Administration was going after conservative “patriots” as though they were Al Qaeda. It seems to me that Tucker Carlson should have been fired for that report, but he has the highest rated show on Fox, One of the interesting things in the article was how that series would never have been allowed if Roger Ailes was still running the network. Ailes for instance forbade Fox hosts from attending candidate rallies, something that has been done frequently since Ailes was fired. But Ailes clearly deserved to be fired and in any event he passed away soon after he was terminated. Ailes cared about the credibility of Fox News as a news organization. It’s a shame the higher ups don’t care about it even half as much.

I still have respect for the news side of the network including anchors like Brett Bair and Chris Wallace. But no matter how outstanding your news reporting may be, if the majority of your network programming is the equivalent of Info Wars no serious person will trust it.

  2. It seems that some of the new info involved additional sexual misconduct allegations – not against Andrew Cuomo, but against Chris this time.
