Unfortunately, the anise and horehound crops haven’t been affected in the least.
Ain’t nothing better than a handmade barley candy lollipop (it’s a New England thing). Admittedly I can’t think of anything else anisey I like.
When I was a kid I liked a candy called Richardson’s Anise Mints. They were sold by the pound at the store where I bought my comic books. As I recall, a mere nickel bought a shitload of them.
(Wow, can anyone guess that I’m an old fart? That paragraph may be the old-fartiest ever written. The only things missing are my driving a penny-farthing to the store, and having the proprietor call me “sport.”)
And nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. Give me five bees for a quarter you’d say. Now where were we, oh ya. The important thing was to have an onion on your belt, which was the style at the time.
What!? There’s no artificial peppermint flavor?
