    (I read the thread, and it seemed harmless enough to me, kind of a “no harm – no foul” debate, although it did seem to be, in the words of the late, great Billy Shakespeare, Much Ado About Nothing.)

  2. Since Djokovic is a Serb and apparently not very bright, perhaps his contempt for Australia is rooted in how he thinks they treated his people in WWI.

  3. Please let me clarify, Roger, your reaction was in no way OOB. I was trying to suggest it was off-topic. As was, indeed, my reply. In fact, it wouldn’t have been remarkable, had it not instigated a chain reaction of off-topic replies. Most of which didn’t add to OP’s or the story’s comments about The Joker, Australia, or covid restrictions.

    As you noted, subsequent discussion did little to resolve your facts shortage. None of this is OOB. It’s par-for-the-course. My thrust is more that I don’t see why anyone here would be terribly interested in my personal details. And conversely, I’m more or less not too interested in theirs.

    I am of course quite interested in their insights, observations and experiences that elucidate or contextualize said insights. Just, not the feelings, for their own sake. I do feel old, every day. But that’s not of general interest. I also feel like I never grew up. Who here needs to know that? Even if true.

  6. I am a tennis fan. I watched many a great tennis player & many great matches. I admire “the joker” for what he’s done on court. No matter if you’re John McEnroe or Raphael Nadal, you’re playing a game & it has rules. You’ll find yourself at the wrong of the stick, from time to time. Life can be like that, too.

    I’ve been stepped on enough in my life that my reservoir of sympathy towards someone who’s had far more than a fair share of the benefit of the doubt is at a level close to its historic low.

    IOW, pardon me if I partake in a little frau-on-shoideh by enjoying a story in the news expressing my own feeling that someone gaming the game & exploiting clout might get a point taken away by a side helping of truth-to-power.

    Here’s an idea, Roger. Please consider not whining about how “the world” is leaving you out. Whenever you’re feeling excluded by a topic, just decline to contribute. Quietly. Gracefully. In short, STFU.

    Indeed, you should write a book about your life, but leave out all the chapters re: other crap.

  12. Given that he’s an all-time great and currently active player in a major sport, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect many, if not most, people to at least be aware that he’s a tennis player. I mean, one doesn’t have to be a football fan to be aware of Tom Brady.
