This is the story behind the making, stealing and marketing of the very first, and probably still the most famous, celebrity sex tape sold on the internet. The first three episodes are now streaming on Hulu. Lily James is a serious early contender for the best nude performance of 2022, assuming you can tolerate the prosthetic bolt-ons. Lily has no meaningful exposure in episode 1 and very little in episode 3 – but, oh, that episode 2!

And the series is watchable, with seriocomic turns from Nick Offerman, Seth Rogan and Andrew Dice Clay. We all know that Offerman is awesome, and the Diceman is just playing his usual character, but Rogan is a real surprise. He doesn’t get much chance to be funny, but by eschewing his usual guffawing, mugging and fall-back mannerisms, he turns out to be a much better actor than expected, and brings a lot of depth to his character.

Lily and Sebastian Stan, in the title roles, manage to give likable performances as two people who seem none too bright, but have a lot of earthy charm and unexpected sincerity as they fall crazy in love. As the late Gene Siskel used to say, the action holds your interest because Pam and Tommy are two people who are fun to hang around with for a while.
