A forgotten topless scene with Greta Scacchi

In the decade between 1983 and 1992, Greta was naked in pretty much everything she did – more than a dozen roles in those ten years. This is one I had never seen before – in Burke and Wills (1985). Burke and Wills were historical characters who, in a nutshell, could sort of be described as the Lewis and Clark of Australia, except that neither of them survived their expedition. Here is Wikipedia’s entry on the expedition

The film was dragged out of the Cavern of Eternal Oblivion by the internet’s version of Indiana Jones, the tireless film archaeologist named Johnny Moronic, who points out that Greta’s nudity streak somehow remained intact in this historical drama, despite its PG-13 rating and the fact that there were no women on the actual Burke and Wills expedition!

  1. The Beastmaster (1982) and Sheena (1984) were rated PG 😮 ok, both before the Meese commission (1986) 😛

And yes, Dems are the woke, politically correct party lol. So much bullshit, so little time. Digressing.

btw, evangelicals pretty much run the Rep party nowadays. Mass hypocrisy notwithstanding. Yielding back the balance of my time …

  2. Greta Scacchi is one of the most beautiful ever. And it isn’t hard to get a topless scene in a PG-13 if you want to as the ratings come from a combination of elements. Topless alone will not get an R. Add in language, violence and everything else Hollywood does in excess and then you get an R. A movie made in french Canada from about 10 years ago even got only a PG from the MPAA even though the lovely, lead actress did a full topless scene.

  3. I discovered her in “A Man In Love” with Peter Coyote. My god she was beautiful. And naked. And beautiful

  4. Reminds me that I just recently saw a BluRay clip of here scnes in “The Coca-Cola Kid”, which is the first thing I ever saw her in and she was adorable. Alos had Eric Roberts in it, back in the when days he actually read the script before agreeing to the job.

Also, this may be old new to some of you, but for a hot second there she was Sean Penn’s mother in-law, even though she’s only six months older than him.

    1. I remember reading reviews for the Coca-Cola Kid went it came out, and the critics went all out to express their outrage at the extended full frontal nude scene with Ms. Scacchi bathing with a toddler. I was just a teenager so promptly forgot about it, but some time later when Alien vs Predator: Requiem came out, the critics generated a similar amount of vitriol over the impregnation scene. Nowadays we have social media, and reading the reviews of regular folk, a common theme was sexual arousal by the material. I’m guessing the critics were too, subsequently ashamed, and then compensated by writing how much they hated it! This is probably old-hat for lots of people, but as they say in the current lingo, I was today years old…

      1. I don’t know why anybody was looking for family-safe fare from Makavejev, the director who gave us an exotic dancer ravished by a dildo mounted on a remote-controlled tank in one of my favorite bersek movies, Montenegro.
