  1. Honestly, I’m not sure she is completely sane. What is she trying to do, here?
What’s with the wrinkle swiping on repeat at the end?

    1. I’ve made my position clear. Many people argued for the end of her conservancy based on the premise that she was capable of making sane decisions. I also argued for the end of her conservancy – based on the premise that she was clearly NOT capable of making sane decisions.

It’s becoming ever clearer which justification was correct.

My argument was facetious, of course. Her mental health and overall well-being are obviously more important than some nude and/or near-nude pics that I knew would be forthcoming. There were some people who actually cared about Britney’s well-being, and advocated the continuance of the conservancy based on the same reasoning that I used as justification to end it.

Anyway, ultimately, she’s a grown woman. She should have the right to make any decisions about her life unless they break the law, harm others, or reveal that she is capable of physical self-harm. She has done none of those. She seems to me like a rather sweet, immature, very naive person who just wants love and is not sure how to get it. And obviously she has a very strong streak of exhibitionism, which is a harmless characteristic. If she pisses away her reputation or her fortune in the pursuit of superficial approval … well, I guess she has the same right to do that as anyone else. She will definitely make some mistakes, because she spent so many years being sheltered from the real world and doesn’t really know how to deal with real life, or whose counsel can be trusted.

      1. How many NBA players – or professional athletes in general – threw away fortunes? None of them were thrown into conservatorships. Although maybe they should have been. I’m looking at you Antoine Walker.

It is sad that you could make tens of millions but end up broke. I bet their posses were happy though.

I hope Britney doesn’t end up broke.

        1. There is a distinction. None of them were likely to be thought victims of mental illness, which Britney definitely was. For right or wrong, society will try to provide protection for the mentally ill, but not for the incredibly dumb. If John Daly had been demonstrably crazy (shaved his head, showed his dick in public, attacked photographers, e.g.) instead of just dumb as a rock, there might have been a legal intervention and he might still have his millions.

On the other hand, Kanye is obviously a candidate for the funny farm, and nobody has suggested placing him into a conservatorship. I wonder … would it be different if he were a woman?

          1. Celebrities are going to attract vultures. Younger male celebrities seems to get some more slack but even theyโ€™re not immune.

Brian Wilson might be the most famous case of a young male with a poisonous conservator. Other male celebrities usually donโ€™t fall victim until theyโ€™re elderly and having health issues.

          2. I don’t know who John Daly is. A quick Google search turned up a professional golfer by that name, but his Wikipedia page did not make it apparent that he is dumb as a rock. (Also, isn’t the standard being as dumb as a BOX of rocks, not just one of them?) If not him, what John Daly do you mean? Thanks from the ignorant.

          3. People never tend to feel that a man needs to be saved. They just let them fall and then say they were stupid. It’s only with women that people come out and say that somebody must help them. People don’t feel protective of men. I suppose there are pros and cons to that.

          4. Well, yup.

We don’t have enough protection from interventions, bc lack of adequate representation for its victims. This would include govt child welfare takings. But conservatorship is a scam.

Not that there aren’t actual problem cases where it can be a possible approach to a solution. But it should be rare. It should never be as in effect perpetual as it is. When it does continue, it needs to be clear to any disinterested, informed rational person that it was the sole & totally necessary intervention, continuously. IMHO.
