Elon Musk reinstates Trump’s Twitter account

CBS News reported:

Musk made the announcement after holding a poll that asked Twitter users to click “yes” or “no” on whether Trump’s account should be reinstated. The “yes” vote won, with 51.8%. “The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei,”

  1. I really don’t care if Trump is on Twitter or not. I don’t use it and only heard about Trump’s tweets when they made the news and it’s the same with his Truth posts. I don’t follow him and don’t care where he posts.

As for Elon, I admire him for what he accomplished with Tesla and SpaceX. But I think he is an example of what can happen when someone is so rich they can make their whims a reality. He enjoyed the attention his tweets in favor of free speech on Twitter created and went and made an offer before realizing it was a mistake. Then he decided he had no choice but to go through with it. He probably thought paying the $1 billion to get out of the deal would make him look foolish. Of course, not paying it was probably much more foolish. Who the hell knows where it will all end. But if Twitter does indeed fold, unfortunately something else just as toxic will rise up to take its place.

    1. I think Elon and Twitter are an example of what can happen when a billionaire thinks having become a billionaire make him John Galt in the flesh – a genius in everything, qualified to run everything and indispensible to the society of drones who are only parasites upon his greatness.

It’s not all billionaires, but it’s the hard-right ones who are paying the Republican Party to turn America into an authoritarian oligarchy. And a stunning number of Americans support that. It won’t work out any better now than it did for imperial Rome or royal France, in the long run.

      1. There is an unfortunate tendency for the public to take an expert in one area and treat that person as an expert in everything. Elon Musk makes the best rockets and electric cars, therefore we should elect him president. Fortunately, the Constitution doesn’t allow naturalized billionaires to become president.

    1. So if you own a website, you have to let me express my opinions on it? Neat! Please post the URL.

    2. You apparently don’t know what the 1st Amendment means. Sadly, tens of millions don’t either

For the12,567,335,756,788 time – it only guarantees that the government cannot silence you. It has nothing, NOTHING, to do with businesses and how they choose to run their companies

      Ay-ay-ay

  2. The only bright lining to this otherwise very dark cloud is that the rate Stable Genius v.2.0 is going, Twitter will be gone far before the 2024 elections.

Gotta say, I never thought I’d have the opportunity to watch someone burn $44 billion, but here we are. You’d have to try really hard to fuck this up more than Musk is fucking it up.

  3. All I can say is, humanity gets what it gets with how many stupid people worshippers are in this world, and how many don’t understand common sense economically.

  4. Sounds like Musk created a phony poll so he could have an excuse to reinstate. Trump’s base of mindless maga zombies has gone way down; there’s no legit way he’d win such a poll. Musk surely rigged it so that he can say “But it’s what the people want!” as they leave in droves. What an obvious ploy.

    1. and like The Orange Menace himself, he lies when he doesn’t need to – he could have just said It’s my toy now, I want Trump to play with it. But he needs this farcical genuflection to voting so he can pretend that owning Twatter makes him popular.

      1. You mean DNC bots voting FOR Trump, Johnjohn? Because the DNC loves it when Trump gets more attention now. It reminds everybody of what a cesspool the GOP has become. The Dems want Trump to be the Republican 2024 presidential candidate very very much.

And if you are right, then even with those bots, Trump barely squeezed in. What a loser.
