Aubrey Plaza naked (??) in the season two finale of The White Lotus

I guess she’s naked, but I can’t really see any of the fun stuff.

  1. I still remember the times when HBO released such gems like Boardwalk Empire, Rome or Hung. Casey Bloys totally ruined this network.

    1. All great shows! Especially enjoyed Hung. Used to watch it with my wife. Those scenes with Rebecca Creskoff… Hung actually reminded me of another great HBO comedy from the early ‘90s, Dream On, in the amount of nudity it had.

      1. Dream On is buried deep inside of HBO’s vaults (or the vaults of whomever they sold the rights to). The first two seasons came out on DVD, then … crickets. (By the way, that DVD is now selling for $110 on Amazon. Ridiculous! If any of you want it, I’ll sell you my once-watched copy for forty bucks, shipping included.)

I subscribe to HBO Max, which has even released obscure efforts like Arli$$, but indicates no trace of Dream On.

As you guys noted, that series had plenty of nudity, and it was a pleasant enough watch, so why is it utterly hidden from view? ‘Tis a mystery. My guess is that the legal rights are tangled.

        1. I’m guessing it would be a pain in the ass/not worth it to secure the rights for all the old TV clips on Dream On. Also Wikipedia says MCA Universal was one of the original production companies and NBC Universal was the distributor from 2004-2011, so I guess NBCUniversal probably still have the rights.

I have some vague but fond memories of the show. It’s Brian Benben’s second greatest achievement, right after being married to Madeleine Stowe for 40 years.

    2. It is being ruined, but their main problem is the shift to streaming. Cable tv revenues have been going down for over a decade and currently these companies are mostly losing money on streaming. Since they are in a declining business, they aren’t in much of a mood to give people a great product. Even with great shows, their revenues will still go down. They figure if revenues will fall anyway, they might as well make the product cheaper.
