Cosmetics heir William Lauder is tearing down a $110 million, six-year old mansion in Palm Beach, because … money.

“At more than 35,000 square feet, the mansion was designed to feature 16 bathrooms, a gym, barber shop, theater, and library. Last year, the property reportedly sold to an entity tied to William Lauder, a billionaire heir to the Estée Lauder makeup fortune, for an astonishing $110 million. But the palatial estate is apparently not up to his family’s standards. On Wednesday, the town approved a plan to tear down the home — built just six years ago — to the dirt.”

#1 is has held that spot for eight years, although it was not the city I expected. (I expected The Big Apple, which had to settle for #2)

“New York beat out Los Angeles for the #2 ranking. Entering the top 20 this year are Hartford, taking the #19 spot, and Miami, rising three spots to secure the #20 spot.”

I think this one is from Nights and Weekends (2008), which she also co-directed. About 15 years ago she was acting in a series of films with no merit beyond her presence. It doesn’t matter now, since she got recognized, started to make her own films with decent budgets, and turned out to be really good at it.

Her next project (as a writer/director) is that Ken and Barbie film starring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie. It sounds awful, but a concept like that could go either to great heights or embarrassing depths, so I’ll reserve judgment.
