After World War I, a young ex-soldier, Sébastien Monge, returns to his home village. Ignorant of his past, he learns that, 24 years before, his entire family was slain in their home one stormy night. Only Sébastien, then a four-month old baby, was spared.

Ingrid’s performance earned her a Cesar nomination as the Most Promising Actress. She lost to Catherine Jacob for Life Is a Long Quiet River. I guess the Academy made the right choice, because Jacob is still acting, and Held retired from the profession more than 30 years ago. She is now an art historian and lecturer.

But she was a righteous babe in this film. (The screen grabs aren’t that impressive, but the video below gives you a better idea of her appeal.)

Adrien arrives in Paris to stay with his father, Clément, whom he hasn’t seen in four years. Clément lives with Louise, a twenty-year-old girl eager for independence and success. After an argument, Louise leaves Clément for Adrien.

Thibault, Isabelle and their son Jeremie board their sailboat Joshua to sail the world and live a new life. The Gulf of Aden is watched over by Somali pirates, and while stopping in Djibouti, the happy family meets Mike, a Black man they know nothing about but innately trust. Inviting Mike to board the ship, the quartet travels onward in their sailboat.

Frankie’s career path eventually led her into an erotic thriller called Warm Texas Rain, which is probably not what she had in mind when she studied at Julliard and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. That may have soured her on acting, because the beautiful redhead had only one more credit after that epic full-frontal performance, after which she disappeared completely. Neither IMDb nor Wikipedia are any help in determining why she left the biz or where she is now. Her last Instagram post was 86 weeks ago, but she is currently posting on Facebook, where she lists her occupation as story-teller.

You may not have heard of Warm Texas Rain, a straight-to-vid, but Tuna and I gave it two thumbs up as a solid genre pic. IMDb rates it only 4.6. I suppose that may be fair if you’re expecting Body Heat, but we found it to be an enjoyable guilty pleasure film. And we gave Frankie Thorn an A++. Given her education, she probably dreamt of playing Lady MacBeth, and she may have found that doing multiple frontal scenes in a cheesy erotic thriller was a degrading experience. I don’t know. But I do know that she was perfect for the genre. She was elegant and seductive; she looked good naked; and she had the acting chops to make it all convincing.

Students of the Faculty of Acting learn that their diploma film will be made by the famous director Gajda. This news electrifies them – everyone wants to be in the cast. Gajda appears occasionally. He leaves a camera with the students – in his absence, they are to record improvised scenes around the topic of jealousy and rivalry based on the story of Cain and Abel and Balladyna and Alina. Rehearsals begin, we get to know the students’ personalities, their dreams and ambitions. Disproportions in acting talents, differences in opinion and wealth, envy, pasts, and complicated emotional relationships are also revealed. We focus on the relationship of four characters: Lukasz/Abel, Olo/Cain, Julka/Balladyna and Alicja/Alina. Professional rivalry overlaps with private rivalry. The line between reality and fiction is slowly starting to blur. The four of them play a game for a role in the film, which turns into a game for everything. At the party, there is a fight between Lukasz and Olo. The fight gets out of control.
