Trump: No roads and bridges unless you stop investigating me

“He said it was over, that he wasn’t going to do infrastructure or anything else until [investigations] were over.”

This is odd. An infrastructure bill would be a signature accomplishment for his Presidency, and is totally non-partisan. In essence, it’s good for America and even better for Trump.

  1. Coming soon to a Twitter near you.

“Iran will win over us or we won’t win the war with Iran, if dems and the enemy of the people media keep going after me.”

  2. He has no other option. The walls are closing in, and the impeachment hearings will have a ton of damaging information come out, and while he is betting on the Senate not voting to convict, even Republicans could be looking at 7-10 Senate seat losses in 2020 because Trump is dragging down the ticket like a boat anchor, and the only way to salvage a few Senate seats is to convince Trump to resign from office and not run for re-election.
That is why Amash’s stance is getting all the heat from Republicans, because he is the first crack in the dam, and the pressure on Republicans will soon follow, like Hurd, Ernst, and Gardner, because backing Trump in 2020 will ensure they will lose their seats.

    1. One other thought occurred to me. He has been using every thing to stop this. Trying to gin up a war with Iran (wag the dog) isn’t working, because even Bolton knows that attacking Iran will lead to $5-7 a gallon gas at the pump, so he turned to the infrastructure bill, which was the carrot to get the Democrats to back off, which didn’t work. what I fear next is the stick.
What is the stick? The debt limit vote.
he could tell Mnuchin to stop paying interest and principal on the Treasury debt and not use the Treasury Department emergency measures if Democrats don’t back off and the debt limit is breached, and cause the US to default on the debt for the first time in its history.

  3. Yeah, in case you haven’t noticed, the “master negotiator” is a moron, so this comes as no real surprise.

  4. Trump figures he doesn’t need any signal accomplishments before next year since he’ll just make some up the way he always has.
