  1. I’ve noticed that Arkansas has finally decided to join the modern world and pay the governor a living wage. When Bill Clinton held the job, the governor actually made less money than a 7-Eleven manager, and I don’t think the situation was much better when Huckabee’s dad ran the show.

    When you think about it, it’s quite an amazing story that a guy got elected President after never having made more than $35,000 a year. I guess the Clintons made up for those lean years. They are now allegedly worth $50 million or more.

    As late as 2015, Arkansas still ranked 49th among the states in governors’ salaries, but the state enacted a big leap in 2016 and it is now smack-dab in the middle, at 25th among the states. I think Maine is now the only state to pay the governor less than $90K per year (still at $70K).
