But …
“Mississippi appears to have enough votes to change state flag, senior lawmaker says.”
Some lawmakers argue that the flag should be changed, not because it represents something inherently bad, but because it makes snarky Yankees view Mississippians as a bunch of backward hicks.
… which to me seems like an argument to keep the old flag, based on the “honesty in advertising” principle. After all, if you see some guys carrying or wearing the stars and bars, at least you know who to avoid.
