Face masks have NO impact on oxygen levels

This doctor puts on six masks while demonstrating his oxygen level in real time.

  1. A one minute video does not show the real changes in O2 levels in the blood nor does it reflect the nuances of people with compromised lung function.

Pulse oximeters average signals over a period of time, this will cause a delay in giving a new (real) oxygen saturation.

I am a RN who works in the operating room and this kind of BS is why there is so much misinformation that gets passed around. Yes, the cheap masks that are used by most of the public will not affect O2 levels. What is lost is that a lot of people have issues with claustrophobia and wearing a mask can cause panic attacks. This will be confused with not being able to breath due to lack of O2. Bottom line, masks help REDUCE THE RISK of YOU passing un-diagnosed COVID to someone else. Only a N95 mask can protect against breathing in the virus and only if it is properly worn and fit tested.

    1. Obviously face masks have an extremely minimal impact on breathing. I sleep with my head under the covers every night, and have done so for fifty years. I wear a ski mask over a painter’s mask in sub-zero weather. At no time have I ever had any breathing problems from having a piece of cloth over my mouth and nose, although it can sometimes get … er … fragrant.

As for people with panic attacks – well, if they won’t cover up, or can’t control their panic, they need to keep their asses inside and away from society until this blows over. As you noted, this is not about them protecting themselves. It’s about them protecting me.

        I agree with you 100%

        1. I’m sure that a good number of them insist on their right to infect others. That’s how part of the US rolls today.

    2. I would question that a lot of people have issues with claustrophobia…some people do.

  2. Don’t expect actual facts to impair the anti-mask idiot brigade’s ability to drink Trump et. al.’s Kool-Aid. They became an anti-fact, anti-science cult long ago.

We’re they to have their way, we’d enter a second Dark Age.
