US states ranked by Americans

How do we view ourselves? We like Hawaii and Colorado and we do not much care for Alabama and Mississippi.

  1. I’ve always found Kentucky achingly beautiful and its people pretty laid back. Just lucky I guess, if you believe this list.

    1. I’ve always liked Kentucky as well. Louisville is interesting. The Cincinnati suburbs are nice. The bourbon tours are fun for passing tourists like me. The landscape is attractive. The weather is not bad. I think it might be underrated.

These ratings are filled with different types of prejudice. I have plenty of my own, like anyone else. My girlfriend talked me into spending some time in Indianapolis on one of our trips, and I was horrified. It has to be the most boring place on earth, right? Not at all. It has one of the most charming, most convenient and safest downtowns of any city in America, and we found some excellent ethnic restaurants in the area. So much for my bias.

On the other hand, I was pretty much right about the rest of Indiana. The whole friggin’ state looks like one big wind farm.

  2. @Kevin

Having not been many places, I appreciate little info like that. Anyone have any other tidbits about states, areas like that?

  3. I can’t help but think that SC’s far-too-high ranking is buoyed almost entirely by Charleston since the rest of the state is a shithole.

    1. I enjoyed North Myrtle Beach. And a sculpture garden not far from there. But those are both tourist places, and I would not claim to have experience of the “real” South Carolina.

    2. Driving through it two years ago, I kinda liked the Myrtle Beach area and I totally loved Hilton Head.
